Do you know why Holi is celebrated?

Because there is a big ancient story behind it, let’s first know. Once upon a time, there was a king named Hiranyakashyap from the demon family. He had a son named Pralhad who is now known as Bhakta Pralhad.

He was a great devotee of Vishnu but this was not acceptable to his father i.e. Hiranyakashyap. Because Hiranyakashyap was arrogant and cruel, who considered himself superior and superior to the gods. He had no respect for the gods, he did not believe in the gods.

He could not accept that his son was immersed in devotion to Vishnu day and night, only reciting and remembering Vishnu’s name. So Hiranyakashyapa was trying to get the devotee Prahlada away from him and kill him, but Hiranyakashyap failed because the devotee Prahlada was a great devotee of Vishnu. At one point, Hiranyakashyap enlisted the help of his sister Holika to kill Prahlad.

Holika also belonged to the family of demons and had the boon that she would not be harmed by fire and she would not be consumed by fire. Hiranyakashipu made a cheetah in which he kept his Holika sister and gave his son in his lap to the devotee Prahlad and set the leopard on fire.

Prahlada was a devotee of Vishnu, so he was not harmed in the fire, but Holika herself burnt to ashes. Then Vishnu came out of Dhruva in the form of Narasimha and killed Hiranyakashipu.
The only thing we can learn from this story is those bad things always perish. Therefore Holi is celebrated to destroy bad things and negative things.
